CRAFT-IT4SD supports SMEs with new EU fashion regulation guide developed by MODACC

Within the framework of the European project CRAFT-IT4SD, project partner MODACC has developed and published a practical guide to help small and medium-sized enterprises in the textile and fashion sector understand and prepare for upcoming European Union regulations.

The document, created as part of CRAFT-IT4SD’s mission to support the green and digital transition of the craft and textile industries, provides SMEs with a clear overview of three key EU regulatory frameworks that will significantly impact the fashion value chain in the coming years. By translating complex legislative developments into accessible and practical information, the guide aims to help companies anticipate changes and adapt their strategies accordingly.

The guide focuses on the main obligations expected to affect the sector, including sustainable product design requirements, extended producer responsibility (EPR), traceability rules, the digital product passport, and criteria linked to social rights, circularity, and waste management. Using straightforward and decision-oriented language, it outlines concrete first steps that SMEs can take to begin aligning their operations with the evolving European regulatory landscape.

Developed by MODACC within the activities of CRAFT-IT4SD, the guide serves as a practical tool to help businesses identify potential risks, detect opportunities for improvement, and gradually integrate sustainability and transparency requirements into their business models.

MODACC also highlights that the document should be considered an informational and evolving resource, as the EU regulatory framework for sustainable textiles continues to develop. Companies are therefore encouraged to regularly monitor updates from European institutions and adapt their strategies based on their capacities, priorities, and market positioning.

By providing this free and accessible resource, the CRAFT-IT4SD project reinforces its commitment to equipping SMEs with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate regulatory change and remain competitive in an increasingly sustainability-driven European market. Through initiatives like this guide, project partners such as MODACC are helping the textile and fashion ecosystem move toward a more sustainable, transparent, and future-ready industry.
