About US

CRAFT-IT4SD aims to transform the cultural and creative sectors and industries (CCSI) towards the green transition by activating the rich crafts and creative art heritage and the strong design traditions nested in the European fashion and clothing sector, and to renew these traditions through cross-sectoral co-creation with immersive media and extended reality technologies, to explore new sustainable design and production processes through digital technologies, tools and lab-environments as well as new ways of engaging more sustainable consumer behavior through gamification, immersive storytelling and co-designing processes in immersive media-environments.

OUR OBJECTIVES

The uptake of these approaches will be tested and shared through new sustainable and data-driven business-models, building on digital process data and on climate impact data collected through Life Cycle Assessment.

01
CRAFT-IT4SD aims to provide an updated understanding of the challenges and opportunities for the cultural and creative industries (CCIs) in relation to a sustainable climate transition by building on the rich craft and creative art heritage and strong design traditions nested across four localized pilots the European fashion and clothing sector, and to renew these tradition through CCSI cross-sectoral innovation with immersive media and extended reality technologies, to explore new sustainable design and production processes through digital technologies, tools and lab-environments as well as new ways of driving more sustainable consumer behavior through immersive storytelling and co-designing processes in immersive media-environments.
02
CRAFT-IT4SD will deliver research and knowledge-based approach(es) on innovative business models, based on the use of new technology, to help the Fashion and Textile Industry become a driver of a sustainable climate transition. By providing experimentation into data driven business modeling for the green transition, it is the ambition of CRAFT-IT4SD to contribute good data-standards, interoperability and data sharing for the Fashion and Textile Industry, where data standards and infrastructures are gravely lacking, not least for small and micro-sized players. As responding to the developments in legislation requires reliable and comparable quantitative climate impact data, CRAFT-IT4SD will provide such data using the principles of life cycle assessment (LCA) thinking. An experimental platform will provide and share new business models, allowing for sustainable small and micro-sized enterprises to share knowledge, practice, and data and to flourish in an ecosystem with larger industry in the sector.
03
CRAFT-IT4SD will significantly contribute to help the CCSI to become better prepared to adapt to and become drivers of the climate transition in line with the 2030 goals spelled out under a European Green Deal by exploring, through pilot clusters and multi-stakeholder ecosystems of policy makers, industry and industrial organisations, knowledge partners for research and education as well as third sector customerorganisations, how pathways to sustainability can be facilitated by identifying existing living heritage resources and by testing and implementing such pathways through enabling digital technologies and new data driven business models, which will include small, medium and microsized as well as larger companies, and which are to be shared across ecosystems, regions and Member States.
